Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu led other APC chieftains to the State House, Monday, for a courtesy meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The ‘Jagaban’ doesn’t grant that many interviews and can be camera shy, so when he does speak on those rare occasions like this week, it only makes sense to parse and interpret whatever he says.
1. Tinubu says there’s no cabal in Aso Rock
If you haven’t been under a rock since Buhari became president in 2015, you are probably sick and tired of hearing and reading that a certain cabal has hijacked the president’s government and held the man hostage.
Tinubu says you should rest assured no such cabal exists.
“What is the myth in this leadership thing? What is cabal? It’s a myth”, Tinubu said.
Not like we believe him, but Ok.
2. Tinubu says he and the APC retain trust in the president
This is an important point to make because stories have been making the rounds concerning an alleged cold war between Buhari and Tinubu.
We’ve also been told that most APC chieftains aren’t happy with how Buhari has been running the federal government.
According to Tinubu, there’s been conflict as is the norm everywhere, but that doesn’t translate to abandoning Buhari in the Villa.
“We are the party of the people for the people and by the people and this is a democratic environment. Each of us has our roles to play and that is why we are playing it.
“I don’t believe in the myth, I believe in confidence building, the trust that we have in the president. In the journey of democracy you are going to have twists and turns, you are going to have conflicts.
"Conflict resolution mechanism is inbuilt on how you handle your party”.
3. Buhari was excited during chat with Tinubu
Yeah, so Tinubu tells us that Buhari was very giddy during their closed-door session.
Recall also that Tinubu told us he won’t disclose what was said during his discussion with the president.
“I just met with the president. Our discussion was fruitful, productive and it was about the country and leadership as a whole. And that got him excited and happy,” Tinubu said.

4. Tinubu says he’s confident that Buhari will eventually deliver
Some say Buhari is yet to come good and that the presidency has under-performed thus far. Tinubu doesn't agree.
His words were: “I have confidence in this president, there is no doubt about that. We worked hard to bring about the government, there are certain things that are unpredictable and those are things that can lean itself to gossips, insinuations and all of that”.

5. Tinubu says he can be a rebel when necessary
Ok, so the Jagaban tells us that he’s not going to keep his thoughts to himself if the government he helped enthrone, begins to derail.
Because rebels like him often speak up when things are going south.
